The conditional movement control order (MCO) will be extended for another four weeks until June 9, says Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

In a live broadcast on Sunday (May 10), Muhyiddin said that this was based on the sentiment of the people who wanted the government to continue to take precautions to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

Previously he mentioned that the MCO would end on the 12th of May 2020 but now it is being extended for another 4 weeks which is till 9th June 2020. The standard operating procedures (SOP) will be enforced till 9th June 2020.

The Prime Minister also stated that movement across borders is NOT permitted. This also means that 'balik kampung' this year is not allowed. However, the government has lessen the restrictions where 20 people are allowed to gather for the festival. Everyone else is encouraged to stay at home and follow the SOP.
