Fish are friends, not food !

Imagine coming home one fine day only to see your pet fish has been cooked for dinner. That was the fate of Bayu. Bayu is from Central Java's Sukoharjo regency. Recently, he has been hit by a tragedy where his dad cooked  his pet Arowana.

Man in Indonesia mourns death of pet arowana after dad fries it ...

Bayu bought the fish at Jatinegara market in East Jakarta, which is a place known for decorative fish. Recently, while he was away from home, his brother sent him photos of his pet fish being prepared and cooked for dinner by his father, without even the slightest consent  from Bayu.

'My Arowana was fried by my father. I bought it at Jatinegara when it was four years of age and it had been my companion in Cikarang for two years. I then brought it home to Sukoharjo but my father couldn't take care of it  and ended up frying it', said Bayu to the community account @solokini.

The tragedy that hit Bayu became viral on social media. The Arowana fish is the most popular and expensive fish in Indonesia, which also means that it isn't cheap. Bayu said that he bought the golden Arowana fish for IDR 800,00 (RM242.16) and the price of the fish now would be IDR 2 million (RM 605.40).

The fish grew bigger after two years and Bayu decided to take it to his parents' place in a hope that it would enjoy a bigger fish tank and be given proper care. However, Bayu's father didn't really look after the fish. Usually Arowana is fed with crickets and centipedes but his dad gave the fish lizards which is unusual.

Bayu said that he has accepted the fate of his pet fish despite the ugly truth he had to bear with.'I've let it go. When I imagine my father feasting on my Arowana, I feel like throwing up', said Bayu.
