Jemput-jemput also called cekodok or cucur is a traditional Malay fritter snack from Indonesia, famous in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and other Asian countries. Cekodok is made from flour and then fried. It comes in a round shape and you can also customize the shapes.
There are many varieties of this snack where you can add banana, anchovies, prawns, and onions. They are the most popular eating as a snack during tea time. The best combination could be some cucurs and a hot coffee or tea. That is the authentic Malaysian tea time.
Making some cekodok/cucur is super easy and can be made in a short time. Today I'm gonna share cekodok pisang. First, you need :
- 4 spoons of tepung gandum
- 4 bananas
- 1egg
- freshly grated coconut
- 6 tablespoons of water
- 2 spoons of sugar
- a pinch of salt
You have to mix all the ingredients into a soft sticky mixture and keep aside. Next, you have to :
1) Heat up a pan and add some oil
2) Once the oil is heat, take a spoon, dip into the mixture take a spoonful of cucur batter and place is in the pan as a round shape
3) Turn both sides of frying cucur until golden brown
4) Once it is golden brown, off the stove and keep the cucur aside
And thats it. Simple as that right, now you can mix a good tea and have some hot cekodok in the evening. Happy trying 😍
