Facebook began in February of 2004 as a school-based social network at Harvard University. It was created by Mark Zuckerberg along with Edward Saverin, both students at the college. It wasn't until 2006 that Facebook opened to anyone 13 years or older and took off. Facebook is user-friendly and open to everyone. Although it started out as a way to keep in touch or reconnect with long-lost friends, it rapidly became the darling of businesses that we're able to closely target an audience and deliver ads directly to the people most likely to want their products or services.
Facebook makes it simple to share photos, text messages, videos, status posts, and feelings on Facebook. The site is entertaining and a regular daily stop for many users. Unlike some social network sites, Facebook does not allow adult content. When users transgress and are reported, they are banned from the site. Facebook provides a customizable set of privacy controls, so users can protect their information from getting to third-party individuals. However, there are many pros and cons of Facebook.

The first pros of Facebook is where you can keep and touch with people. Since life is changing generation by generation, that’s how technology getting advanced. By sending letters and waiting for an e-mail, you can simply keep in touch and stay connected with people who are miles away from you. The third pros are to receive news and information. You can receive real-time information update on the latest news in the environment. Companies use it to announce new brands of products and services. Other than that, most of the news company has its own Facebook page where most of the news are published officially on Facebook. At the same time, you can get the latest news about the latest promotions. For example, MAC cosmetics shop publishes their promotions online via Facebook.
CONS
Moving on to the first cons of Facebook which is privacy issues. As we know, Facebook is a huge platform connected with millions of people and it matters to whom and what we choose to share in the news feed. Even though our Facebook is secured with a strong password, people tend to hack and steal all your information. This act brings up so much depression and suicide cases. For example, hackers tend to steal information, and blackmail or life threat the account user.
The second con is cyberbullying. Over the recent past, cyberbullying has been a major concern for everyone. There are various reported cases where individuals have committed suicide after cyberbullying through the social account. These days, cyberbullying is becoming a trend in the name of memes. Some of the admins make fun of people and post it on Facebook and eventually it gets loads of disrespectful comments and captions.
Lastly, time wastage. Over one million daily Facebook users spend a significant amount of time reading status updates, viewing photos, videos, and pages they may not be interested in. The time wasted on Facebook can be used to do something productive elsewhere. Most of them find Facebook a great time pass where they tend to create fake profiles and cheat people in the name love and money and this is most likely to be called a scam. Fake profiles and scams are already too much on Facebook. For example, a man lost RM1,000 in the Facebook scams.
